In Emily Lane's swift and sinuous work of art "Koi Pond," the pastel colors, defined line movement, and its simplicity illustrates soothing gentleness and pleasantness. Lane uses matt, neutral colors that are still wide in variety arraying from the coral pink color of the fishes to the soft blue colored reflection of the sky. A diversity of colors was not used in this painting to exemplify its minimalism but still portrayed a pleasing image. Lane's work is revealed as content and comforting, but also is complex and exuberant because of the perceptible reflections in the pond.
