Part one begins on chapter nine, which is on page one-hundred, and ends on page one-hundred eleven. So this blog is not going to be as long as the others. Well anyways, here it goes.!
So before chapter nine started, Kathy was just talking about how the students could not have babies of their own. But they did not know for sure if the teachers did or did not let them have relationships with other students. She just kept talking about how her close friends were dating, and she did not have anyone. This guy Harry liked her, and she liked him back. Nothing ever happened between them...so far. She was not confused about the subject, when her friends Ruth and Tommy were dating. Then when they broke up, everything became a blurr to her, as if she did not know what to do.
In the beginning of chapter nine, Harry, Kathy's interest, just got out of surgery for donations. So has she, but she was not as out of it as he was. She felt upset that he did not really recognize her, because of all the medications. Kathy was mentioning how she wanted to be more than friends with him, and she has been giving him hints. Then she thought, maybe he did not think about her in the same way as she did. She just kept hoping, but nothing ever happened.
In the end of part one, there was only one main focus. The focus was on Ruth and Tommy. Ruth was talking to Kathy about how she wanted to get back together with Tommy. How she thought they were each other's perfect match. Kathy, a good friend she is, went to go talk to Tommy. It was not awkward at all for her, because her an Tommy had been close friends since they were younger. The conversation between them, was long, but in the end she convinced him. Ruth and Tommy got back together, but she did not take any credit for it.
